Even if you don’t like to walk, you can always drive the route.

How Long is the World’s Longest Sidewalk?

Bayshore Blvd., known as the longest sidewalk in the world, is 4 1/2 miles long and runs along Tampa Bay. It begins at the Columbus Statue Park and runs south to Gandy Boulevard. Because of the gorgeous views, there are many historic and prestigious homes.

The sidewalk is 10 feet in width, so there is plenty of room to walk, bike, roller blade or run. There are also many spots to stop along the way!

The neighborhood is Old Hyde Park, so there is a rich history and beautiful architecture. It is one of the oldest parts of Tampa, FL, so you can spend all afternoon exploring the local neighborhood!

A Great Place to Exercise

This is a popular spot for bikers, joggers and anyone wanting to exercise. The long, continuous trail offers the opportunity for uninterrupted exercise with pretty sights.

Additionally, The Bayshore Fitness Trail is a mile-long stretch dedicated to fitness. There are stations along the trail with different equipment so you can change up your work out or give yourself a quick rest.

If you need to stop along the way, you can find benches scattered along the sidewalk.

Biking?

If you’re planning to bike the Blvd. plan to ride in one of the bike lane sections of the sidewalk. (They do not continue it’s entire length) You’ll have plenty of room to ride!

There is a three mile bike lane included in the north-bound sidewalk from Gandy Boulevard to Rome Avenue. The south-bound bike land runs from Platte Street to Gandy Boulevard, but parts are still under construction.

Things to Do Near Bayshore:

There are tons of fun things to do nearby, including restaurants, shops & parks.

Visit Ballast Point Park near the end of the trail, or check out the pier and river walk downtown.

Ballast Point Park

This park features a pier that is the perfect place to watch the sunset or enjoy a morning coffee!

Visit the cafe to get your drink or play with your children on the playground (if you bring them).

Mad Dogs & Englishmen

This is a yummy spot if you’re looking for a snack. They serve British food & draft beers with a patio area, so you can enjoy the outdoors!

There also a China Wok across the street if that’s more your style.

Pane Rustica

This Italian restaurant has great reviews & yummy food (we’ve tried it!)

Fred Ball Park

This is a smaller park, but still worth the stop! It’s right off the trail, so its a great place to stop for a break. Dogs are allowed so stop by with your pups!

Ciro’s Tampa

If you’re looking for a spot to enjoy a drink, this is it! It’s a block from the trail and filled with character. They also serve yummy food.

Tampa Continues to Improve

The city of Tampa & the Bayshore Boulevard Task Force consistently work to improve the sidewalk and find new ways to add to the area. Additional sidewalks have been built along the west side of Bayshore Boulevard, with more plans in the works to improve accessibility for all visitors.

The Bayshore Boulevard Greenway is part of the regional trails system and is designated one of several priorities.
